The Third Wave

The Third Wave podcast takes a fresh look at the world of psychedelics, hearing the stories of people both in the psychedelic fringe and in mainstream society. We want to share how psychedelics are transforming the lives of people everywhere, both inside and outside of the psychedelic community. By revealing and unraveling the vast range of personal psychedelic experiences, we hope to change the cultural stigma surrounding psychedelic use. Our conversations will focus on the use of psychedelics within two main frameworks: as tools for creativity and as medicine for mental health issues.

This week we talk to Joe and Kyle from Psychedelics Today, a regular podcast that explores important events in the field of psychedelics. We hear about how Joe and Kyle met, and about their unique personal experiences with psychedelics. We end up pretty much covering it all - life, death, rebirth and (of course), holotropic breathwork.

Our guest is Mike (Zappy) Zapolin, entrepreneur and psychedelic advocate. Zappy is the director of the award-winning documentary “The Reality of Truth,” an exploration of the mystical and spiritual insights that the psychedelic experience can offer. Here we talk to Zappy about his advocacy, the future of psychedelics in the modern world, and how we can reach a ‘critical mass’ of spiritual evolution.

Our guest is Reverend Danny Nemu, historian and author. He talks to us about drugs in the bible – and how priests used them to induce divine visions. It’s surprising how many natural substances mentioned in the bible are psychoactive, and were almost certainly used for their mind-altering properties. We also discuss how drug stigma has changed since biblical times, and what it means for the future of psychedelics.
